Who are we?
Andri has a long reaching experience in aviation and airline operations having spent over 20 years with the Icelandair Group. During his time with the company he worked in finance and operation management supervising financial planning and budgeting as well as evaluating and/or supervising products/business/business plans, budgeting. For a period of six years, Andri was responsible for Icelandair flight/technical/ground operations; carrying all duties towards local aviation authorities in maintaining operations certificate. He further led negotiations with employee unions and with key suppliers. For the last few years at his reign at Icelandair, Andri held the position of fleet manager, negotiating and evaluating all aircraft and engine purchases and leases. Andri has a degree in Business Administration from the University of Iceland.
Kári‘s aviation career began at Icelandair Group in 1994. Positions held during his time at Icelandair Group included Manager, Treasury department with main focus on risk and cash management, Director of Procurement with main focus on fuel, contracts and Aircraft leasing and Head of all Hotel Operations of Icelandair Group with a total of 17 properties. In 2005, Kári co-started Icelease. He has been the Managing Director of the company since 2006. Kári has also served as the Managing Director for several joint venture aircraft investment projects, co-owned by international banks and lessors. Kári has served on the boards of several different companies over the past 10 years, including Bluebird Cargo Airlines, IG Invest and HF Securities (securities brokerage and corporate advisory; licensed member of the NASDAQ:OMX exchange). Kari has a degree in Business Administration from the University of Iceland.
Martin Greiffenhagen, a Germany native, has been an active participant in the Global Aviation Market for close to 30 years. With a wide variety of responsibilities and comprehensive understanding in the aviation sector, Mr. Greiffenhagen is an approved accountable manager for airline operations with the German Civil Aviation Authorities. Martin joined the Icelease team in 2012, having previously worked as the CEO for XL Airways Germany, a position he has held since its foundation in January of 2006. Prior to such, Martin was the Managing Director of Accelligence Consulting, a German Aviation Consultancy based in Frankfurt. After leaving his position in the Controlling Department of Technische Universitat Darmstadt in 1990, Mr. Greiffenhagen held senior management positions with both Aero Lloyd and Sudflug, a former subsidiary of Condor Airlines.
Sigthor left his position as Deputy CEO of Icelandair Group in January 2011 to focus exclusively on the Aircraft leasing and trading market. Sigthor joined Icelandair in 1996, where his first assignment involved heading up process reengineering and strategic planning projects. In 1999, Sigthor became the Director of Resource Management, taking on responsibility for commercial aspects of the flight operations of Icelandair, including aspects such as aircraft lease-in/lease-out, fuel purchasing and airport station management. In early 2000, Sigthor successfully reintroduced Icelandair to the international charter- and ACMI-markets. This concept caught speed, and on January 1, 2002 Loftleidir-Icelandic, a specialized charter and ACMI service provider headed by Sigthor, was launched as a sister company of Icelandair. In 2006, Sigthor was appointed COO of the Icelandair Group, and Deputy CEO as of 2008. He has served on the boards of directors of Icelandair, Loftleidir-Icelandic, Travel Service Airlines (Czech Republic), Bluebird Cargo Airlines, Icelease and SmartLynx Airlines (Latvia). Sigthor served on the Board of Directors of ISTAT (International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading) for four years and currently sits on the board of the ISTAT foundation. Sigthor joined Icelease as a Senior Partner in 2011. Sigthor has a Master Diploma in Industrial Engineering from Technische Universitat Darmstadt.
Gudmundur is a veteran of the industry for over 25 years starting his aviation career with FTC Västerås where he worked as an Aircraft Technician between 1992-1995. Having studied metalwork preparation for Aircraft Technician at the Reykjavik Technical College, JAR 145 auditor training and JAR Hoofdorp Nominated Postholder Training, Gudmundur also attended Business Studies at the University of Iceland before completing his Type training L1011-1/-100/-500 Tristar 1998, B737 Classic, Airbus A320 series and Rolls Royce Trent 7000 GENFAM courses. Gudmundur holds a CAME continuation training iaw relevant to date. From 1995 – 2018 Gudmundur has held various positions with Icelandair, Air Atlanta, Bluebird Nordic and WOWair. Positions including line maintenance, planning, powerplant and postholder.
During the past 25 years, Magnus has gained comprehensive experience in the aviation and aircraft leasing industry. Magnus joined Icelandair in 1997, heading up marketing, yield management and e-commerce, with a base in Washington, DC. In 2001, Magnus took on the responsibility as Director, Global Sales Planning and Development.
In 2003, Magnus left Icelandair to take over as Vice President-Business Development for Avion Group, an international transportation investment firm with several thousand employees and operations across the globe. During his time at Avion, he co-led the merger of Air Atlanta Icelandic and Islandsflug and led the purchase of Star Airlines in France and Aero Flight in Germany which eventually became part of the XL Leisure Group. Over the past 15 years, Magnus has also served as a board member with various airlines and aviation/hospitality investment firms and worked as an aviation/fleet/aircraft leasing consultant on projects in Australia, Middle East, Europe, US and Canada. Since joining Icelease in 2010, Magnus has been active in both transaction origination and remarketing but has also led Icelease’s investor relationship development, resulting in several successful and long-term investor partnerships with Private Equity firms, HNWI’s and Sovereign Wealth Funds.
Magnus has been a Senior Partner at Icelease since 2011 and Chairman of IAT-Leasing since 2023. Magnus holds a BA in International Affairs and Economics from the University of Colorado.
Since joining Icelease in 2012, Saud has primarily focused on capital marketing and sourcing opportunities in the Middle East and North African markets, by utilizing an extensive network of institutional and semi-government clients. Saud joined Icelease after having been employed in various key positions over the last decade, in tier 1 commercial real estate and finance markets, specializing in developing or acquiring, leasing and exiting large real estate projects. Since then, Saud has gained comprehensive experience in the aviation leasing space. Saud holds undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in International Business from Regent’s Business School London.
Eddo joined Icelease in February 2022. For 12 years prior to joining Icelease, he worked for GA Telesis as Vice President and Head of Engine Transactions. In his role he was responsible for the sale, acquisition, and engine leasing of new, mature, and part out engines and has been praised for his substantial knowledge of a wide range of assets and closed on over 600 engines and aircraft investments.
Earlier in his career, Eddo worked as Director of Business Development at Willis Lease where he worked on strategic expansions including the establishment of the Willis Mitsui JV in Ireland, the formation of a leasing entity in China, and other engine transactions and partnerships.
Originally from the Netherlands Weijer has lived in seven countries and currently reside with his family in Denver CO. He holds a master’s degree in Air Transport Management from Cranfield University in the UK, and a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the Hanze University in Amsterdam. Eddo was an active member on the ISTAT Foundation for eight years and remains active in supporting various charities in aviation.
